About Us

Although agriculture is an important source of income in Zanzibar, it is practiced primarily for subsistence rather than as a sustainable commercial enterprise. The limited availability of land, with 60% of the islands consisting of coral, further exacerbates the challenge of establishing large-scale commercial agriculture. As a result, many young people are no longer interested in farming, and there are few women and older men actively working on their farms. Hence, we, Aatif Aquaponics Limited seeks to contribute to the introduction of a new, innovative way of farming in Zanzibar and Tanzania in general and help create new opportunities for Tanzanians in the agricultural sector. The hydro/aquaponics method promotes food security by enabling local horticulture, which is more sustainable, efficient and environmentally friendly than importing these products.
